In 2013 and 2014 Bizbio organized a horror fantasy festival that was built around of a 200-year-old legend about a curse that possessed the bodies of various historical figures and would raise the dead to help reek havoc. An organization called the Tom Zombie Historical Society documented various incidents over the years and negotiated the contract that tamed the curse and became a local festival.
The festival brought over a million tourism dollars to St. Thomas, helped support heritage landmarks by hosting their events there, supported the arts community by hiring local talent, actors and venues, educated people locally and regionally about our local history and advanced diversity by involving black and indigenous historical figures and local communities.
Though this project hasn't been advanced in a few years the time has been used to organize the Tom Zombie Historical Society into a registered not-for-profit. When the time is right Bizbio looks forward to advancing this project once again, bigger and better than ever.
If you would like to volunteer your time to the Tom Zombie Historical Society please contact us. It is an amazing opportunity to create a job you will love and impact our community for years to come.
